Have you been thinking about owning a home, but don’t know where to start? We designed our 2020 Home Buyer Guide specifically for First Time Buyers in the Fort Bragg area. Here is a step by step guide to getting started on your journey to homeownership!
STEP 1
Meet Your Agent!
So you’ve decided to buy a home. Congrats! The very first step is to meet your Real Estate Agent. As a homebuyer, your Real Estate Agent is generally free to you! I will meet with you to discuss exactly what you’re looking for. Bedrooms, bathrooms, square footage, location, and price are all important considerations when buying a home. I will take note of any special requests, such as a large garage, swimming pool, or fenced yard. I would also be happy to connect you with one of our trusted lending partners, as well as other vendors, who will be able to assist you during your home buying process!
STEP 2
Figure Out Financing
The next step is to figure out how much you can afford to spend on your new home. There are many different home loan programs out there that factor your income, work history, and credit score to determine what your purchasing power is. Before we start looking at homes, you’ll want to make sure that you are pre-approved with a lender of your choice. Your mortgage lender will give you a Pre-approval letter, which is states how much you are able to qualify for a home loan. Obtaining this pre-approval letter before you start looking at houses will ensure that you are ready to make an offer and that you are looking for homes within your price range!
STEP 3
Find Your Home
Start touring homes or schedule virtual tours! I will send you new homes as soon as they come on the market. If you see a home that catches your eye, please let me know and I will coordinate with the Listing Agent and the seller to schedule a home tour for you. I will also set up an automated home search so that you are emailed new listings within your price range every day.
STEP 4
Make An Offer
Once you’ve found the right home, we will work closely together to write up the best offer. We will treat your new home like it’s our own and negotiate on your behalf to get you an advantageous deal. Once our offer has been accepted, we will ensure that everything goes smoothly through closing. We have significant experience handling real estate documents, managing timelines, and educating first time home buyers through their real estate transaction.
